“Sewing can restore indipendance”

PROJECT: Sewing Machines

Creating self-sufficiency through sewing and education

Four Manual Sewing Machines have been purchased for $110USD each.

Women in the community have completed sewing courses and are now fostering self-sustainability within the community.

7 women have already graduated from this course and are using their new skills to make their own clothing, repair garments, and start small businesses. They have even sewn uniforms for the staff at Cori-anna College which, has given legitimacy to the school.

Jobs for women can be hard to find. These manual sewing machines provide a reliable source of income. It allows people to produce goods locally, reducing dependence on imported products and boosting the local economy. In addition to this, we have seen other women from the village step in to provide childcare while working mothers are busy. This all creates a cycle of economic and social empowerment, promoting long-term sustainability by nurturing skills, encouraging local entrepreneurship, and fostering self-reliance.
